Trout Talk: On-the-Water Casting Practice
Date: August 22, 2026 | Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: North Mills River Recreation Area at the end of North Mills River Road, Mills River (View on Map)
Instead of our normal Trout Talk, we will meet at North Mills River Recreation Area to practice our casting skills, line mending, and perfecting a dragless drift. To prevent stressing any trout that might be impressed by our presentations, we will clip the hook points off so we won’t actually catch them.
We will meet at the parking area so bring $5 to pay the fee unless you have an America the Beautiful Senior Pass, Golden Age Passport, Access Pass, or military-eligible pass.
It is likely to be warm so you might want to “wet wade” in shorts and wading boots. Please bring plenty of water, a shade hat, and sunscreen. If you plan to go, please send an email to Diane Lubbers at flyfishgirl888@gmail.com. Letting Diane know that you are interested will allow her to notify everyone if the weather forecast is not promising for this outing to occur.
