We are excited to get an opportunity to share our chapter’s mission and program information with folks down in Polk County at the Celebrate Nature Festival at the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center (FENCE) in Tryon.

This FREE community festival will feature:

• Animal encounters
• Hands-on nature activities
• Art demonstrations
• And much more!

Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the afternoon. Admission is free, so invite your family and friends and join us for an unforgettable fall afternoon at FENCE!

We will host our booth to provide information and fun activities for kids.

Pisgah Chapter of Trout Unlimited is partnering with Veterans Healing Farm in Mills River to provide a beginning fly fishing clinic for Veterans. All equipment will be provided and instruction will begin with a brief classroom introduction followed by practice on the water. Back by popular demand, our October 24 Trout Talk will feature fly tying expert and instructor, Jim Cannon to talk about the basics of fly tying.

We hear from many folks that while they have an interest in fly tying, it appears to be an extremely difficult skill to master. Jim takes all the intimidation and trepidation out of it! He will lead us through the basic techniques to make your own flies. Fly tying is a lot of fun and you can create classic flies used for decades or add your own touches to make flies unique to you. One thing is for sure, catching a trout on a fly you tied provides a special thrill.

We will meet on the second Thursday of the month for our chapter meeting and program. Social time begins at 6:30 with the program at 7:00. Guidon offers delicious food and craft beers.

On display will be our Big Green Egg MiniMax that is being raffled with the drawing on December 10. Tickets are just $20 for this prize valued at $996. Proceeds will help fund our conservation and education programs.

Prior to our program, we will hear the Treasurer’s Report. Afterwards, we will hear from Dr. John Morse and Cheyana Bassham with Clemson University who are conducting a two-year study on aquatic macroinvertebrates of the Davidson River.

We will host our annual Holiday Social on December 10 at Guidon Brewing in downtown Hendersonville. In addition to delicious food and a drink ticket, we will offer an excellent collection of new and slightly-used fishing gear and other items for raffle. Also on display will be a Big Green Egg MiniMax where you can purchase $20 tickets before we hold the drawing at 8:00 p.m.
